SHORT-TERM DETOX
Short-Term Detox (or "short-stay" detox) is a modified residential detox for patients who... - cannot afford to be absent from work for a full residential stay - do not initially qualify for outpatient detox due to the severity of their withdrawal symptoms (or the complexity of their medical problems) Due to the accelerated nature of this detox protocol, it is very important that an initial assessment be performed prior to scheduling short-term detox. This assessment will confirm that the "short-stay" protocol is the best option. It will also help us schedule admission. For this treatment option, timing is critical and depends upon the substances involved. Walk-in patients will not be considered for admission to the short-term detox protocol. The length of stay for short-term detox ranges from 3 to 4 days (depending upon the drug use history, presence of symptoms on admission, and the severity of the withdrawal symptoms experienced). At Stepworks, all detoxification protocols are supervised by our medical director, Thomas Ingram, MD, who is board-certified in Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine. Dr. Ingram is an approved prescriber of Suboxone and has over ten years experience in the treatment of chemical dependency. Dr. Ingram is also a Family Practice Physician at Heartland Primary Care in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. |
