Admission:

What insurances do you accept?

Visit our accepted insurances page to see a comprehensive list of our currently accepted insurances.

Does Stepworks accept pregnant women?

We do accept pregnant women before they enter their final trimester.

I entered a Stepworks program in the past, but I didn’t complete it. Can I return to Stepworks?

All readmission requests are handled on a case-by-case basis, but we encourage anyone to apply! After you apply, the treatment team will review the circumstances of your last stay and determine your eligibility for readmission.

My significant other and I want to enter treatment together. Do you accept couples?

We believe it is vitally important that you focus on your own recovery while in treatment. Having your significant other at the same location would likely become an obstacle to personal focus and growth. For that reason, we currently do not admit couples to the same facility. However, it is possible to enter treatment at the same time at different facilities. We even have two facilities in Elizabethtown so that you could potentially obtain treatment simultaneously in the same city.

Residential Treatment Program:

Are the rooms private?

One of our core beliefs is that recovery is better together! Clients staying at our 30-day residential treatment centers will stay in shared rooms, similar to dorm living. We’ve learned from experience that people cannot recover in isolation. By sharing spaces, you’ll become part of a community learning together and supporting each other in recovery.

Are the treatment centers mixed gender?

Stepworks accepts both women and men as clients at many of our locations, but we also have single-gender facilities, including a women’s center in Nicholasville and a men’s center in London, KY. At our mixed-gender facilities, dorm/sleeping areas are separated by gender.

Can I have visitors?

All Stepworks facilities have visiting hours. The visiting hours for each location vary and will be indicated during your admission and orientation.

What do you use for detox?

Our medical director has developed alcohol and opiate detox protocols that rival many hospital-based detox environments. While we cannot remove all the discomfort of detox, the variety of medications we use can make it much more comfortable than you could imagine. We do not use methadone. We use buprenorphine/naloxone for clients whose detox requires it. This allows clients to focus and remain in treatment.

Does Stepworks have exercise and recreational facilities?

All facilities have exercise space and some have basketball and volleyball courts. Light physical exercise/activity is incorporated into our daily schedule and all clients are encouraged to participate.

Do I have to participate in the group meetings if I feel anxious or sick?

Clients are required to participate in groups unless our medical professionals determine otherwise. Group participation is an incredibly important aspect of our addiction treatment program. During these meetings you’ll learn important concepts and coping mechanisms and process the difficult thoughts and emotions behind your addiction.

Can I make and receive phone calls?

Yes, each week clients are given an opportunity to make phone calls to friends and family members. Clients cannot receive unscheduled phone calls throughout the day but must arrange to communicate during arranged phone times.

Can I smoke at the facility?

Yes, we do allow patients to smoke cigarettes during break times throughout the day. Cigarettes brought into the facility must be in unopened packages at the time of admission. Electronic cigarettes are prohibited in our residential treatment facilities.

Intensive Outpatient Program:

Do You provide individual or group therapy?

Clients in our intensive outpatient program are required to attend both group and individual therapy sessions. See our IOP page for more information.

Sober Living Program:

How close is your sober living home to the intensive outpatient program location?

Residents of our sober living apartments are within walking distance of our IOP clinic.

Are sober living residents required to go to therapy sessions?

Yes, residents must be active participants in our intensive outpatient program.

Do I have to be a graduate of Stepworks to apply for your sober living program?

No, but you do need to be medically and financially stable enough to meet requirements.

Will I have roommates in the sober living residence?

Yes, each townhouse has up to four residents.
